Prosecutor seeks death penalty as trials open

Public Prosecutio­n demanded capital punishment on Thursday against five out of 11 suspects over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Saudi Press Agency reported. The Saudi attorney general highlighte­d in a statement that the demand was made during the first hearing of the case at the criminal court held in Riyadh and all 11 suspects attended the hearing with their lawyers. The attorney general also revealed that the Public Prosecutio­n has waited until now to get informatio­n about the case from its Turkish counterpar­t. the city. The pair were rushed to the hospital and one man in his 20s later died. The other is said to be in stable condition with a minor injury. It is not clear whether the two victims were members of the Church of Scientolog­y, and whether the attack happened in the center or outside.
