Poetry Moment: Wu Qian reads for you
In the latest episode of Poetry Moment, actress Wu Qian reads Loveliest of Trees by A.E. Housman, who portrays the melody of poetry through simple vocabulary. The poem uses the image of a beautiful cherry tree to encourage young people to utilize time properly and live meaningful lives. Wu shares her experience of maintaining a work-life balance and also stresses the importance of cherishing one’s youth. Poetry Moment, broadcast every Thursday, is our short video series.
When memes become a diaspora phenomenon
Subtle Asian Traits, a social media page, has become a cultural phenomenon for many people of Asian descent who live outside the continent. Its jokes and memes — especially those relating to the lives of first-generation migrants — have made the page wildly popular. The rapid success has stunned the group’s founders — nine Chinese-Australian high school students in Melbourne.
