Life expectancy lengthens to 83.63 years

The average life expectancy of registered Shanghai residents reached 83.63 years last year, up from 83.37 in 2017, the Shanghai Health Commission said on Thursday. The average life expectancy for men was 81.25 years, while that of women was 86.08 years. This year, the city will focus on the construction of its community health service system to further improve the health of residents, said Wu Jinglei, the commission’s director.
