S. Korea concerned about exports decline
South Korea’s government has raised concerns about its decreasing exports, which account for about half of the export-driven country’s economy. South Korea’s outbound shipments reduced for two months in a row amid low semiconductor shipments. The Ministry of Economy and Finance said on Friday that both investment and exports showed a correction, declining 5.8 percent in January from a year earlier, after sliding 1.3 percent in the prior month due mainly to weak demand for semiconductors.
