Self-heating food raises safety fears

-

Railway police officers have warned against self-heating food due to recent safety concerns over its use on trains during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush. Last month, a passenger triggered the smoke alarm on a high-speed train. The attendant found that the

passenger’s self-heating rice caused the incident. Self-heating food packaging usually uses a heat releasing reaction between quicklime and water, which produces steam.
