Call for Papers at the Summit Forum of Economists from Developing Countries
To promote Sino-foreign exchanges and dialogue on frontier economics and the development of the economics discipline in China, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) will host the “Summit of Economists from Developing Countries” as a platform for academic communication and discussions on development issues facing developing countries. The Summit will be organized by the CASS Bureau of International Cooperation and the CASS Institute of Industrial Economics (IIE) and co-organized by China Economist.
The first forum is scheduled to take place in July 2022 in Beijing with the theme of “Global Development Initiative Towards an Economically Sustainable World”. The event will take an online and offline hybrid mode featuring keynote speeches and academic parallel forums. We hereby call for Chinese and English-language papers from economists in China and abroad. With the tenet to promote global cooperation among development economists and economic development in developing countries, the Summit will feature academic discussions on such issues as global development initiative, sustainable economic development, and international cooperation.
“Summit of Economists from Developing Countries” is planned to be held once a year alternatively in China and other developing countries. The first forum will feature selection of excellent papers. Authors of excellent papers wishing to have their papers first published in China Economist will be invited to the “Second Summit of Economists from Developing Countries”, and the international travel expenses will be covered by the forum’s organizers.

2. Requirements
Papers for submission should be unpublished original academic papers in Chinese or English language. Please refer to papers published in China Economist as style guide. Each paper should be no shorter than 15,000 Chinese characters, or no shorter than 10,000 English words.
3. Deadline
Please submit your paper in word format to editor@ChinaEconomist.com before April 15, 2022. The subject line of email should indicate “Summit of Economists from Developing Countries”.
4. Review procedure
The Summit’s review committee consists of senior Chinese and international academics active in the frontier research of economics. Conference papers will be selected from all submissions. Notification of acceptance and a formal letter of invitation will be sent to the authors of selected papers before May 31, 2022.
On the day of the event, invited Chinese and international well-known scholars in the field of development economics will deliver keynote speeches; participating authors will deliver presentations and communicate with their peers in their respective field of research. The review committee will select a certain number of excellent papers from all submissions. Excellent papers will be given priority in entering China Economist’s review procedure, and the China Economist’s editorial division will have selected Chinese papers translated into English for publication.
5. Other related matters
No conference participation fee will be charged for this forum. Participants should cover their own transportation and accommodation costs. Meals during the forum will be provided by the organizer free of charge.
