The Third Session of the 13th National People's Congress
The National People's Congress (NPC), China’s top legislature, opened its annual session on May 22 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Nearly 3,000 deputies attended. The meeting, normally held in March, was delayed because of the coronavirus outbreak. It concluded on May 28. Lawmakers adopted a revised draft civil code and the revised draft of an NPC decision on improving and improving the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to safeguard national security. Legislators also approved the plan for national economic and social development and the central budget for 2020. They also approved resolutions on the government work report, and the work reports of the NPC Standing Committee, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
