Wang Yi Addresses Symposium on International Situation and China's Foreign Relations in 2023
On January 9, 2024, the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations in 2023 was held in Beijing. Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the symposium and delivered a keynote speech entitled “Self-confidence and SelfReliance, Openness and Inclusiveness, Fairness and Justice, and Win-win Cooperation.”
In his speech, Wang Yi looked back on the progress and harvest for China’s diplomacy in the year 2023, which he said witnessed major and profound evolution in international relations as well as solid progress in Chinese modernization. In particular, he reviewed six highlights, saying they encapsulate the unforgettable moments of China’s diplomacy in the past year and constitute the new chapters of China pursuing win-win cooperation with the rest of the world. Looking into the year 2024, Wang Yi stressed that China’s diplomacy will focus on the theme of building a community with a shared future for mankind and comprehensively serve Chinese modernization, break new ground while upholding fundamental principles, bear in mind the big picture, and make new headway in major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.

(CFIS), the annual symposium was attended by more than 150 representatives from government agencies, the military, universities and research institutions, who had active discussions under the three topics of “global significance of Xi Jinping
Thought on Diplomacy,” “major-country relations and the world landscape,” and
“opportunities and challenges of China’s diplomacy in 2024.”
