Smart Trac­tors for Farm­ing

March 23, Kuqa County, Xin­jiang Uygur Au­tonomous Re­gion: A self-driv­ing trac­tor sows cot­ton seeds in a field in Yaha Town­ship. The smart trac­tor, with an au­to­mated nav­i­ga­tion sys­tem, can au­to­mat­i­cally per­form farm work in­clud­ing plow­ing and seed­ing.

“Ru­ral vi­tal­iza­tion” was one of the ma­jor as­pects of de­vel­op­ing a mod­ern­ized econ­omy in the re­port de­liv­ered to the 19th Na­tional Congress of the Com­mu­nist Party of China (CPC). China has out­lined tasks and tar­gets for a ru­ral vi­tal­iza­tion strat­egy ad­dress­ing is­sues re­lated to agri­cul­ture, ru­ral ar­eas and ru­ral peo­ple.

“Farm­ing is set to be­come an at­trac­tive and de­mand­ing pro­fes­sion. As ru­ral ar­eas be­come beau­ti­ful and pros­per­ous, the coun­try is con­tin­u­ing to step up its ef­forts to re­vi­tal­ize its vast ru­ral re­gions,” de­clared Han Changfu, who is now China’s Min­is­ter of Agri­cul­ture and Ru­ral Af­fairs, at a news con­fer­ence on the side­lines of the first ses­sion of the 13th Na­tional Peo­ple’s Congress in March.
