New Direc­tions: Musquiqui Chi­hy­ing

This ex­hi­bi­tion fea­tures a re­cent se­ries of work by Tai­wanese artist Musquiqui Chi­hy­ing ,“I’ ll Be Back ,” comm­prised of The cul­tural cen­ter, The guest­book, The­mas ksk and Thes culp­ture . Th­ese works have their roots in the artist’s sus­tained en­gage­ment with the his­tory of Sino-afrifrican in­ter­ac­tions from Ming-dy­nasty (1368-1644) ex­plorer er Zheng He’s voy­age to what is now Kenya to late Chi­nese e Premier Zhou En­lai’s diplo­matic vis­its to 10 African states tes that had just been de­col­o­nized. Through th­ese cases, the e artist seeks to look at re­al­ity through his­tory.

Musquiqui Chi­hy­ing was born in 1985 in Tai­wan, China hina and lives and works in Taipei and Berlin, af­ter grad­u­at­ing g from the Berlin Uni­ver­sity of the Arts. He has held many y solo ex­hi­bi­tions and has par­tic­i­pated in many group ex­hi­bi­tions in China and Ger­many.
