Shen­zhou V Manned Space­craft Launched

The Shen­zhou V manned space­craft was launched at 9 a. m. on Oc­to­ber 15, 2003 from the Ji­uquan Satel­lite Launch Cen­ter. The space­craft lifted astro­naut Yang Li­wei and a Chi­nese flag into space. It made China the third coun­try af­ter the for­mer Soviet Union (Rus­sia) and the United States to send a hu­man into space.
