Generative Artificial Intelligence

-

Represented by the emergence and great popularity of CHATGPT, generative artificial intelligence (AI) took the globe by storm and became the hottest sector in the tech community in 2023. From the battle of large models to the boom of AI applications based on large language models, the generative AI industry has embraced an explosive period.

Since Chinese tech giant Baidu released its AI chatbot service product Ernie Bot for public tests in March, AI applications based on large language models had mushroomed with the release of iflytek’s Sparkdesk and Alibaba’s Tongyi Qianwen. Soon, Chinese internet companies such as Meituan, Meitu, and Tencent also joined the game.

China’s AI large model industry is now embracing a vigorous development trend. The evolution of large models is leading to a new technological revolution at unprecedented speed. From thesis writing, advertisement generating and painting to music composing, AI technology has been expanding its participation in creative work with high requirements for intelligence. Some products such as Baidu’s Ernie Bot and Wonder as well as iflytek’s Spark Cognitive Model have demonstrated broader application prospects and huge potential in AI development.

At the Zhongguancun Forum on May 26, 2023, Robin Li, founder, chairman and CEO of Baidu, predicted that all future applications will be developed based on large AI models. Each industry will have its own large AI model products, which will be deeply integrated into the real economy.
