Choosing gifts

The meaning of the gift rather than the monetary value of the gift should be stressed in business settings. Expensive gifts are liable to cause misunderstandings. Gifts related to the company and business may be considered, such as arts and crafts from the place where the company is located, or office stationery and ornaments with the company logo. The gift should be well-made and the packaging should be of good quality.

Another point you should pay attention to is the origin of the gift. A Chinese friend bought many Swiss army knives as gifts for his Chinese friends after traveling abroad. But when he returned to his hotel, he looked closely and found that all of those knives were made in China!
