Slow­down in HIV/ AIDS Trans­mis­sion

The trans­mis­sion rate of HIV/AIDS from mother to child in Tan­za­nia has been re­duced from 21 per­cent in 2009 to 7.6 per­cent in 2016, a se­nior of­fi­cial said on Oc­to­ber 21.

Neema Rusi­ba­may­ila, Di­rec­tor for Pre­ven­tive Ser­vices at the East African na­tion’s Min­istry of Health, Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment, Gen­der, Se­niors and Chil­dren, at­trib­uted the achieve­ment to govern­ment ef­forts to per­suade preg­nant women to test for HIV in clin­ics.
