Fertilizer Value Chain

Morocco’s state-owned phosphate company OCP Group and Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agricultur­e will develop the fertilizer value chain in Ghana, OCP Group announced in a statement on September 11.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understand­ing to work together to optimize the fertilizer value chain in Ghana to provide customized fertilizer­s at affordable prices to farmers.

As part of Ghana’s newly designed Fertilizer Expansion Program, the fertilizer value chain will be improved with targeted farmer-centric and agronomic initiative­s, providing appropriat­e inputs to farmers and supporting them with adequate training, soil mapping, field trials and fertilizer formula developmen­t, the statement said. minister’s informatio­n office, the package includes changing the local currency’s exchange rate against foreign currencies by imposing fees on foreign currency purchases and addressing government subsidizat­ion of fuel.

Following the 2011 uprising that toppled former leader Gaddafi’s regime, Libya has been suffering economic crisis with decrease of oil revenues, the country’s main source of income, due to closure of oilfields and ports by armed conflict.
