Recipient of July 1 Medal
a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), who ignited hope among impoverished girls in mountainous areas, was awarded CPC’S top honor July 1 Medal at a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 1.
Zhang, a 64-year-old principal and founder of a girl’s high school in Huaping County, Yunnan Province, has dedicated her 40 years of life to education at China’s southwestern border. Trying to cut the intergenerational transmission of poverty, she has raised the hopes of many with the light of education. Except Zhang, 28 other outstanding CPC members were awarded the medal.
