CONSUMPTION AS GROWTH DRIVER

China Economic Weekly

January 30 Consumption is a lasting driving force of economic growth. However, the recurring flare-ups of the COVID-19 epidemic in many parts of the country have had a big impact on consumer spending. Data show that the average annual growth rate of China’s total retail sales of consumer goods between 2019 and 2021 was 3.9 percent, while the figure was 8.4 percent between 2012 and 2020.

Given the impact of the epidemic, how will the consumer spending be raised and where will the endogenous impetus for China’s economic development come?

SOCIOLOGY OF DATING

Sanlian Lifeweek February 7 Snow White lies in and meets a passing prince; Sleeping Beauty is awakened by a prince’s kiss; Romeo meets Juliet at the ball of a feuding family ...

In fairy tales, “encounter” is determined by fate, and cannot be explained in words. But back in the real world, meeting the right person is the first obstacle to finding love. After all, our fast-moving society of strangers does not leave much time and space for talking about love.

It’s easy for strangers to meet each other in a modern city. But then the question is how many of these meetings have happy endings?

PROTECTING WATER ENVIRONMENT

Outlook February 14 Governing the water ecology, protecting the water environment, and making the water cleaner, greener, and more beautiful are related to the well-being of the people, the future of the country, and the sustainable development of the Chinese nation.

Today, from indiscriminate fishing to the “10-year fishing ban,” from the competition between people and water to the protection of water, the goal of realizing the virtuous cycle of “the people protecting the Yangtze River and the Yangtze River benefiting the people” is now in people’s sight.

LOVE IS DIFFICULT

New Weekly February 15 Can love overcome the numerous obstacles and last forever? Will there be a moment of joy? Will two sides be consumed by each other?

Some people are excellent at love, and know how to love and receive love from others; others are not so good at it, and even making a firm choice for them is difficult.

They don’t know how to value what is dear to them, and are likely to turn away the most suitable opportunity in the world, and in the process, let a relationship go to ruin and end.

Love may not be eternal, but how to learn to love is an eternal subject.
