Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park

Immerse yourself in the untamed splendour of Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park, a haven of biodiversity and natural wonder. Spanning across lush forests, crystal-clear streams, and teeming wildlife, this expansive park offiers a serene retreat to reconnect with nature.

Located in Kaihua County, Zhejiang Province, the park encompasses the source of the renowned Qiantang River, covering an area of 45 square km.

It is one of China’s 10 pilot areas for the national park system and the sole representative in the Yangtze River Delta.

Despite being situated in the economically developed and densely populated Yangtze River Delta, Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park boasts extensive stretches of rare, evergreen broad-leaved forest typical of the middle subtropical low-altitude region, with a high coverage rate of primeval natural forests of 97.5 percent. Its ecosystem retains its authenticity and integrity, serving as a precious sanctuary for flora and fauna.

With its rich biodiversity, the park shelters numerous rare and endangered species, including the black muntjac and white-necked long-tailed pheasant, making it a vital reservoir of biological diversity and a crucial ecological barrier in east China. This vast native ecosystem, unique not only in China but also in the world, holds significant scientific research value and merits global protection.

It also nurtures a blend of historical and cultural influences, including Hui, Gan, Wu, and Yue cultures. The park is adorned with numerous historical relics and customs, preserving the rich tapestry of the region’s heritage.
