BUAA Sino-french Academy of Engineers

China's Foreign Trade (English) - - Education & Culture -

The project draws from the education method of French engineering technology management and the experience of training engineers. By introducing advanced educational ideas and high-quality educational resources, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA) gives full play to its advantages: it explores ways to train international talents with both engineering technology and scientific knowledge of management in the process of integration and development, establishes a distinguishing talent training system which aims at cultivating high-quality international engineering talents. BUAA aims to innovate higher engineering education, to provide reference experience for our higher engineering education, and to carry out educational, scientific and technological, cultural exchanges with France and French-speaking countries to serve the national diplomacy.

The project aims to enable the students to have a global vision, think systematically and innovate coordinately with others, therefore the students would be competent enough in a diverse world and to confront rapid challenges and changes. It aims to cultivate students with five abilities and qualities: the ability to understand international rules, tolerate different cultures and collaborate with them; the ability to think systematically, integrate and transfer multi- disciplinary knowledge; innovative ability to solve complex engineering problems in an uncertain environment; the ability to respect engineering ethics and social values; and the ability to organize, collaborate the leadership and be critical and reflective.

This project will integrate the education system as well as the training mode for French engineer degrees, and require the students to continue pursuing a master degree after an undergraduate one. The total education takes 6.5 years, in which the undergraduate requires 4 years' study and the graduate 2.5 years but this could be readjusted according to the needs of different individuals. The college has set up a platform for cultivating talents with trilingual abilities and familiar with Chinese and Western cultures, and it has also established, for the first time in China, an “innovation training base for the internationalization of industrial science and technology” .
