Methods A retrospective sampling of Chinese patent medicine prescriptions issued by the outpatient department of pediatrics in our hospital from January to June 2017 was conducted by using the computer clinical medication decision support software. The selected prescriptions were artificially commented to confirm whether there was unreasonable medication, and the types of prescription problems were summarized to analyze the reasons for irrational medication of clinicians. Results From January to June 2017, there were 20 742 prescriptions of Chinese patent medicine in the outpatient department of pediatrics of our hospital, and 473 problematic prescriptions were screened by the computer (accounting for 2.28%). After the artificial review, 167 problematic prescriptions were confirmed (accounting for 0.81%). Conclusion The irrational medication of Chinese patent medicine in pediatric clinicians still exists in our hospital. It is necessary for the hospital pharmacy department to take the pharmaceutical intervention measures, and supplemented by administrative intervention measures to promote pediatric medication in our hospital more standardized and reasonable.
