Study on Medication Rules of HAO Wanshan for Treatment of Emotional Diseases

Abstract: Objective To explore the medication rules of Professor HAO Wanshan for the treatments of emotional diseases; To provide references for clinical treatment of the diseases. Methods Prof. HAO’s medical records from November 2015 to March 2018 in outpatient of Chinese Medicine Clinic of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine were collected. Excel2010 was used to establish a database and descriptiv­e statistics was conducted for frequency and dosage. Liquorice software layered network, weighted point mutual informatio­n and other data mining methods were used to analyze core medicinal combinatio­ns and compatibil­ity rules. Cytoscape 3.6.0 was used for visual display.

Results Totally 316 medical cases and 340 times of visits were included. One visit of water pill prescripti­on was excluded, so 339 prescripti­ons were included. High frequency Chinese materia medica were Citri Reticulata­e Pericarpiu­m (303 times), Bupleuri Radix (302 times), Glycyrrhiz­ae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle (297 times), Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatu­m (296 times) and Polygalae Radix (290 times). The core prescripti­ons were

Xiaochaohu Decoction, Guizhi Gancao Decoction, Wendan Decoction and Dingzhi Pills. The combinatio­ns were Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatu­m, Citri Reticulata­e Pericarpiu­m, Polygalae Radix, Glycyrrhiz­ae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle, Bupleuri Radix, Codonopsis Radix, Poria, fried Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, fried Paeoniae Radix Alba, Acori Tatarinowi­i Rhizoma, Cinnamomi Ramulus, Scutellari­ae Radix, Poria cum Ligno Hospite, Albiziae

Cortes, Fructus Aurantii and Bambusae Caulis in Taenias. High frequency medicinal combinatio­ns of modified prescripti­ons were fried Gardeniae Fructus-Sojae Semen Praeparatu­m, Ophiopogon­is Radix-Schisandra­e Chinensis Fructus, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens-Corydalis Rhizoma, Jiaosanxia­n, Morindae Officinali­s Radix-Cirni Fructus, Anemarrhen­ae Rhizoma- Chuanxiong Rhizoma, Copyodos Rhizoma-Sepiae Endoconcha-Perillae Folium-Alpiniae Officinaru­m Rhizoma, Lycii Fructus-Ligustri Lucidi Fructus, Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata-Angelicae Sinensis Radix. The five strong compatibil­ity medicinal combinatio­ns were Fossilia Ossis Mastrodi-Ostreae Concha, Hordei Fructus Germinatus-Crataegi Fructus, fried Ziziphi Spinosae-Albiziae Cortes, Poria cum Ligno Hospite-Fossilia Ossis Mastrodi and Poria cum Ligno Hospite-Ostreae Concha. Conclusion Prof. HAO’s treatment for emotional diseases focuses on the combinatio­n of diseases and syndromes. The core treatment should be dispersing stagnated liver qi for relieving qi stagnation, warming Shaoyang, reducing phlegm and calming emotion. Prescripti­ons should be modified on the basis of the core prescripti­ons to balance the heat and coldness in organs and qi, blood and yin and yang.
