Abstract: Objective To optimize cutting process for Morindae Officinalis Radix miniature decoction pieces; To investigate whether the cutting technology was suitable for Morindae Officinalis Radix from different producing areas. Methods Steaming time, length of decoction pieces, thickness of decoction pieces, and drying temperature were set as influencing factors, and the contents of crystal lanolin, deacetyl levulinic acid, methyl isophorin-1-methyl ether, methyl isophorin, nes sugar, and the rate of ointment and angle of repose were set as evaluation indexes. The orthogonal test was used to optimize the cutting process of Morindae Officinalis Radix miniature decoction pieces, and HPLC fingerprints of Morindae Officinalis Radix miniature decoction pieces from different producing areas were established. Results The optimal cutting process for Morindae Officinalis Radix miniature decoction pieces was steaming 30 min, then cutting into 3 mm length and 1–2 mm width, and the drying temperature was 40 ℃.

Conclusion The optimal cutting process for Morindae Officinalis Radix miniature decoction pieces is easy to conduct, with good applicability.
