Bali’s latest COMO resort.
With its February debut, Singapore-based COMO Hotels and Resorts’ third Bali property looks set to seriously up the luxe factor in Canggu, the increasingly trendy beach area north of Seminyak. Owner Christina Ong enlisted trusted designers Koichiro Ikebuchi (who worked on her other Bali locations) and Paola Navone (behind COMO Point Yamu in Phuket) to create the look of the 119-room COMO Uma Canggu, and the result is a union of contemporary Asian and Italian sensibilities best revealed in the three-bedroom penthouses, where 10-meter rooftop pools are framed by dramatic arched rooflines. Given the resort’s location on Echo Beach, surfing lessons are among the diversions, as are sundowners at the surf shack–inspired Beach Club. And because this is a COMO property, there are wellness options aplenty at its Shambhala Retreat spa: everything from spiced body masks and Dead Sea mud baths to pranayama breathing exercises, which you’ll need after laying eyes on the breathtaking ocean views ( comohotels.com; doubles from US$200). —Natasha Dragun
