With the completion of a major refit at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London ( mandarinoriental.com) this spring, Knightsbridge is about to shine even brighter. Rising design star Joyce Wang—who also revamped all 120 suites at The Landmark, Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong—was recruited to overhaul the guest quarters, and she took inspiration from the building’s Edwardian heritage, its park-side location, and the glamor of the 1920s. Apart from creating two new penthouse suites, Wang gave each room and suite an individual layout and no shortage of opulent touches: think leather-topped writing desks, marble-clad bathrooms, and mirrors etched by hand. Downstairs, interior designer extraordinaire Adam D. Tihany has overhauled the spa while freshening up venues like Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.
