ANCHORS AWEIGH
2018 is shaping up to be an exciting year for cruise ship launches. The largest passenger liner ever built, Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas ( royalcaribbean.com), will make its debut in the Mediterranean come March 31. April marks the maiden voyage of Carnival Horizon ( carnival.com) from Barcelona, its base for Mediterranean explorations before crossing the Atlantic for itineraries from New York and Miami to Bermuda and the Caribbean. An onboard brewhouse caters to craft beer aficionados, while a Dr. Seuss– themed water park takes the fleet-wide Seuss at Sea program to the next level. In May, the Norwegian Bliss ( bliss.ncl.com) will embark on regular sailings between Seattle and Alaska throughout the summer, then relocate to the Caribbean for the winter months.
