Ad­dis Ababa–Bangkok–Jakarta Ethiopian Air­lines

In­done­sia now has its first air link with Africa thanks to the re­cent de­but of Ethiopian Air­lines’ di­rect ser­vices from Ad­dis Ababa to Jakarta aboard its Boe­ing 787-8 Dream­lin­ers. Run­ning three times a week, the jour­ney takes about 14 hours with a stopover in Bangkok ( ethiopi­anair­lines.com). Hong Kong–Wash­ing­ton, D.C. Cathay Pa­cific Come Septem­ber 15, Hong Kong’s flag car­rier will de­but a four-times-weekly ser­vice to Wash­ing­ton–Dulles, con­nect­ing the har­bor city and the U.S. cap­i­tal for the first time with reg­u­lar non­stop flights. Clock­ing in at just un­der 16 hours each way, these will be op­er­ated aboard brand-new Air­bus A350-1000 air­craft, a nat­u­ral choice for the more than 13,000-kilo­me­ter route—the long­est in the Cathay net­work ( cathay­pa­cific.com).
