A British photographer, Goddard got hooked on Asia while on a university exchange in Taiwan. After five years of exploring an array of cities and countrysides across the continent, she decided to base herself in Taipei. “Most outsiders don’t realize that right on the doorstep of the Taiwanese capital are great hot springs and hiking trails that fully immerse you in nature,” she says. “I can’t recommend the Beitou area enough as a fun place to experience Taiwan’s wellness culture while in the company of friendly locals. It’s on my list of must-sees for everyone who comes to visit Taipei.” Goddard’s work encapsulates her curiosities of people and how they live. Her projects often investigate the relationships of people and how their identities are shaped by their culture and where they are geographically located.
