FARE ENOUGH

- —James Louie

The worldwide revival of food halls shows no signs of slowing down. When Time Out Market ( timeoutmarket.com) took over Lisbon’s Mercado da Ribeira back in 2014, gathering an all-star lineup of vendors under one roof to sell gourmet street food at wallet-friendly prices, the venture quickly turned into a popular attraction. Banking on that success, Time Out has thrown open the doors to outposts in Miami, New York, and Boston in the past six months alone, with two more to debut in Chicago and Montreal by year’s end. Over in London, the brand-new Seven Dials Market ( sevendialsmarket.com) takes over a Covent Garden warehouse once used for storing bananas and cucumbers. Draws here range from a cheese conveyor-belt restaurant to English artisan jams and freshly baked Lithuanian rye at Cucumber Alley.
