HIGHER PURSUITS
Long beloved by artists for its lake-studded Alpine landscapes and exceptional quality of light, Switzerland’s Engadin Valley is a joy to behold on foot and at any time of year, though winter brings that natural beauty into sharper focus. From December 6–March 28, the all-suite Carlton Hotel St. Moritz ( carlton-stmoritz.ch) will offer guests an elevated perspective on its snow-covered surroundings by way of a private 45-minute helicopter tour. Up to five passengers at a time will lift off from Europe’s highest airport in nearby Samedan, to soar over Lake St. Moritz, the serpentine roads of the Maloja Pass, and towering peaks such as Piz Bernina—at 4,048 meters the tallest summit in the Eastern Alps. As a grand finale, flightseers will swoop over central Switzerland before stepping out onto the Hüfifirn Glacier for a coffee or tea break.
