Situated right on Chaweng Beach, the longest stretch of sand in one of Thailand’s most sought-after island destinations, the former Centara Grand Beach Resort on Koh Samui is getting a serious upgrade. The popular retreat will reopen this July as the debut property of Centara Reserve, a brand-new collection of luxury hotels that promises to be as refined and precious as its name suggests. Centara Reserve Samui will retain the classic colonial-inspired style of its predecessor while offering a completely reimagined guest experience.

The 184 redesigned rooms, pool suites, and beachfront pool villas blend contemporary comfort with elements of Thai heritage, creating a backdrop for sophisticated island living. Guests here have no less than 13 room types to choose from; each room features a private balcony or terrace overlooking the ocean, while those booked into suites and villas can also look forward to the services of a dedicated Reserve Host. For even more exclusivity, there’s The Reserve Ocean Pool Villa, which offers 500 square meters of living space and direct beach access.

The new-look property will also be home to five restaurants and bars. At Sa-Nga, savor contemporary Thai tapas, or tuck into comfort food from around the world at The Terrace, whose relaxed, convivial open-air setting nods to the laidback ambience of Samui. Modern high-end cuisine awaits at restaurant Act 5, while fresh line-caught seafood and craft cocktails are a must at Salt Society, the elegant beach bar and kitchen. Mixologists at The Gin Run will offer more than 35 homemade gin-based concoctions.

Recreational facilities include several swimming pools, including a free-form beachfront pool, an adults-only infinity pool with a poolside bar, and a kids’ zone and wet playground so the whole family can splash out. There’s also a firstclass fitness center fitted with the latest equipment, a yoga pavilion, as well as RESERVE SPA Cenvaree. Here, skilled therapists deliver inspired treatments utilizing 100% organic, cruelty-free products and freshly blended oils and clays infused with ingredients grown at the on-site Spa Herb Garden. This is part of the resort’s impressive sustainability program, which goes beyond banning plastics and offering eco-friendly amenities. Specialized water treatment facilities ensure that still and sparkling water can be bottled in-house, while all food waste is transformed into biogas for kitchen use.
