Artist’s Impression
Kévin Bailly on Tuscany.
“I love the colors of Tuscany, from the weathered terra-cotta of the roof tiles to the muted gray-greens and earth tones of its postcard landscapes,” says Paris-born architect Kévin Bailly of his favorite region in Italy. “We came across this scene while driving through the countryside between Florence and Siena a few years ago. With its tall cypress trees and rolling fields and stone farmhouse, all framed by distant mountains, the setting was quintessentially Tuscan, and I knew I had to stop and add it to my sketchbook. I paint wherever I travel as a way to keep better memories of the places I visit. And those memories are particularly vivid when it comes to Tuscany, a land full of beauty and romance where even the simple pleasure of sitting in the shade of an olive tree makes an indelible impression.”
