A SERENE ESCAPADE AT CRETYA UBUD

All-day fun meets natural splendor amid Ubud’s verdant landscape

- cretyaubud.com

Nestled in the heart of Tegallalang, inside the famous Alas Harum Bali plantation, Cretya Ubud offers an exquisite escape amid terraced rice fields and azure blue pools. Strategically located, the restaurant and day club is just a 20-minute car ride away from Central Ubud, or 30 minutes from Kintamani.

There’s actually an interesting story behind the name and the design of Cretya Ubud. The former is taken from the Sanskrit word kretya, which means prosperous and peaceful; the latter, meanwhile, is inspired by the Lantana flower which grows in the area. This particular blossom consists of nine inner petals and 18 outer petals, with the number nine representing completion and the culmination of wisdom and experience. Cretya Ubud’s main structure is designed to resemble the number nine, incorporating elements of Indonesia’s vast cultural heritage while blending with the surrounding natural landscape.

FACILITIES

The defining feature of Cretya Ubud is definitely its three-layered pool. Another highlight is the adults-only Bima lounge. The venue also has a number of hammocks, cabanas, sofas as well as a second pool lounge where guests can dine and relax.

FOOD

Cretya Ubud’s kitchen is helmed by Executive Chef Jelo, who has built up his repertoire through stints at Hyatt Regency Bali and Apéritif. Must-try signature dishes include the panseared salmon and the Neapolitan pizza. From the drinks menu, the Crowned Angel and Kopi Luwak Martini come highly recommended. Yet another crowd favorite is Cretya Ubud’s floating breakfast service, which is available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

ACTIVITIES

During the day, Cretya Ubud takes on a day-club ambience, with a live DJ adding lively tunes to complement the natural acoustics of the venue. At nighttime, slower beats are played while flickering torches light up around the club and restaurant. Speaking of nights, a particularly popular activity at Cretya Ubud is the Night Retreat, which includes Night Tracking – a guided tour of the Alas Harum area along torch-lined paths. Guests can also try out the night swing, available after 7 p.m., to take some extra-memorable, Instagramworthy shots. After the short walk, guests are led back to Cretya Ubud to enjoy a special set-menu dinner.
