THE FULLERTON HOTEL SYDNEY

-

Steeped in character and elegance, The Fullerton Hotels and Resorts’ first property outside Singapore makes for an unforgettable stay.

It’s in part a reimagining of the former General Post Office (GPO), a late 19th-century landmark that has been painstakingly restored by its new owners. Adorned with vaulted arcades, a 73-meter-tall clock tower, and a sweeping sandstone facade, the original building is connected by a dramatic sixstory glass atrium to a modern high-rise section. Most of the 416 guest rooms are housed in the latter, while those in the GPO building offer more classically inspired options. These include the Heritage Long Suite, a stately space occupying the former postmaster’s office that features two original non-functioning marble fireplaces and crown molding, as well as the postmaster’s original writing desk from 1874. All guest rooms are stylishly appointed and boast Harman Kardon Bluetooth speakers, Vittoria coffee machines, an extensive pillow menu, and a tablet that provides an interactive digital concierge service, allowing guests to browse and request hotel services directly. Each of The Fullerton Hotel Sydney’s spacious rooms is stocked with exclusive Balmain amenities.

While the surrounding precinct has no shortage of great places to dine and drink, The Fullerton Hotel Sydney holds its own on the culinary front. Situated under the glass-ceiling atrium, The Place restaurant serves iconic Southeast Asian dishes alongside Modern Australian cuisine. Just downstairs is The Bar, where guests can indulge in an array of lunch and dinner options as well as creative cocktails and the signature afternoon tea experience.

Located in the heart of Sydney, enjoy close proximity to iconic landmarks such as Darling Harbour, the Royal Botanic Garden, and the Sydney Opera House, as well as luxury fashion stores and theaters. Guests can also spend time exploring the vibrant history of the GPO on one of the hotel’s complimentary heritage tours. Led by a resident guide, the 90-minute tours also showcase the building’s intricate stonework and architecture as well as relics from the Tank Stream, Sydney’s original freshwater supply. A section of the stream lies below the GPO, giving guests a front-row seat to a pivotal piece of cultural heritage.
