W HONG KONG

-

Few hotels capture the vibrancy and creative verve of Hong Kong quite as well as this one. Design savvy, fun, and brimming with urban energy, W Hong Kong stands tall in buzzy West Kowloon with an eclectic naturethemed aesthetic and top-notch facilities that have made the property a hit with visitors and locals alike since it debuted in 2008.

The interiors, envisioned by two design firms—tokyo’s Glamorous and Sydney-based studio G+a—reinterpret the surrounding concrete jungle of Hong Kong’s cityscape as an enchanted forest. The five elements of water, fire, wood, earth, and metal are also woven into the look with hanging screens of painted tree-trunk segments and flame-themed video installations. The 393 rooms and suites come in eight different room types, all of which share a supreme level of comfort and an abundance of natural light. The aptly named WOW Suite boasts 120 square meters of living space with a dual-aspect lounge area. It’s a prime perch for admiring sunset views over the western approaches to Victoria Harbour, before watching the lights of Hong Kong Island’s skyscrapers flicker on.

Unfailingly attentive service is another highlight, as is the food. Located off the ground-floor arrival lobby, Sing Yin Cantonese Dining delivers a modern take on premium Chinese cuisine in a sleek, intimately designed space accented with retro touches like hanging birdcages; the dim sum selection is particularly impressive. Six floors up on the hotel’s reception level, KITCHEN is a lively all-day dining venue where international buffets serve up a plethora of seafood, roast meats, and decadent desserts. Nearby, the sophisticated WOOBAR invites guests to rub shoulders with the Hong Kong in-crowd over expertly poured cocktails.

A more restorative experience awaits at 72nd-floor bliss® Spa, where sky-high body treatments are matched by facilities such as a Himalayan salt sauna and vitality pool with harbor views. Then there’s the WET Deck, perched 211 meters above the ground on the 76th floor. Backed by a massive mosaic wall illuminated in vivid pink after dark, the highest outdoor swimming pool in the city hosts epic parties all summer long.

And when it comes time to step out, guests have direct access to the Elements shopping mall and are right on the doorstep of the West Kowloon Cultural District (whose attractions include M+ and Hong Kong Palace Museum) and the high-speed rail links of West Kowloon Station.
