Bi-weekly men­tal health peer sup­port group

Mov­ing to a new coun­try, go­ing through a breakup, a loss of a job or liv­ing with men­tal con­di­tions is very chal­leng­ing. Yet, there’s no rea­son to suf­fer alone when one can choose to join hands with oth­ers and let the power of con­nec­tion and group sup­port heal us. In 2015, Can­dleX, an NGO in Bei­jing, es­tab­lished an English-speak­ing men­tal health peer sup­port group, which pro­vides a safe en­vi­ron­ment for peo­ple liv­ing in Bei­jing to share per­sonal ex­pe­ri­ences, thoughts and feel­ings. Peo­ple who are in­ter­ested can come to meet other mem­bers in the group. They can also read the first-year and sec­ond-year sup­port group re­view re­sults to un­der­stand other group mem­bers. The group events are only open to con­firmed par­tic­i­pants. When: 7:30-9 pm, sec­ond and fourth Tues­days each month Where: U-Town Shop­ping Cen­ter, No.2 San­feng Beili, Chaoyang district Cost: 50 yuan, free for peo­ple who make less than 6,000 yuan per month
