Dr Mo Lingyan re­ceived her med­i­cal de­gree from Cap­i­tal Univer­sity of Med­i­cal Sci­ences in Bei­jing in 1990. She went on to read for her master’s de­gree and PhD in otorhi­no­laryn­gol­ogy at the same univer­sity in 1993 and 2004 re­spec­tively. Dr Mo started work­ing at the Bei­jing Ton­gren Hospi­tal in 1993 as a res­i­dent doc­tor and then later as an at­tend­ing doc­tor. In 1997, she trained to be­come an au­di­o­log­i­cal physi­cian in the Joint China-Aus­tralia train­ing pro­gram in au­di­ol­ogy. Af­ter fin­ish­ing her post­doc­toral fel­low­ship in au­di­ol­ogy at the Univer­sity of Bri­tish Columbia in Canada in 2005, Dr Mo con­tin­ued work­ing in the ENT de­part­ment at Ton­gren Hospi­tal, be­com­ing the chief au­di­o­log­i­cal physi­cian in 2008. Dr Mo has a gen­eral ENT back­ground and spe­cial­izes in di­ag­no­sis and in­ter­ven­tion for both chil­dren and adults with ear and hear­ing dis­or­ders, such as tin­ni­tus, hear­ing im­pair­ment, ver­tigo, and other con­di­tions. She has pub­lished more than 30 pa­pers on the man­age­ment of hear­ing im­pair­ment in both Chi­nese and English.
