“I took my Chanel pleated pants to be cleaned at a laundry mat, but when I went to fetch my pants, all the pleats were gone.”

Global Times – Metro Beijing - - WORD MATTERS -

So said a woman surnamed Cheng who recently sued a laundry mat in Beijing’s Haidian district, demanding a compensation of 18,800 yuan ($2,958). Cheng said that she bought the pants last year for 18,800 yuan. And after her pants were damaged, she signed an agreement with the laundry mat agreeing to send her pants to a local identification association to identify the causes. The association later replied that there is no way to identify the cause. However, they suggested washing a new pair of pleated pants by the same method and testing the outcome. While Cheng agreed, the store refused, which led to the lawsuit. (Source: Beijing Morning Post)
