Ear­lier this month, the bru­tal rape and mur­der of a 21-year-old Chi­nese flight at­ten­dant by a Didi driver brought the se­cu­rity of on­line taxi-hail­ing busi­ness to the spot­light. The air host­ess, sur­named Li, was raped and stabbed to death af­ter hail­ing a pri­vate car from ride-shar­ing plat­form Didi Chux­ing on the evening of May 5 in Zhengzhou, cap­i­tal of Cen­tral China’s He­nan Prov­ince.
