Ren­o­va­tions be­gin for ma­jor im­port expo

From Novem­ber 5, the first China In­ter­na­tional Im­port Expo (CIIE) will be held for six days at the Na­tional Ex­hi­bi­tion and Con­ven­tion Cen­ter (Shang­hai) lo­cated in Qingpu dis­trict.

A 5 bil­lion yuan ($737.69 mil­lion) project is un­der­way to im­prove the en­vi­ron­men­tal up­keep and in­fra­struc­ture around the con­ven­tion cen­ter, and is ex­pected to be com­pleted be­fore Septem­ber 30, Shang­hai Ob­server re­ported Thurs­day.

Based on the re­quire­ments of the Hongqiao Busi­ness Dis­trict Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee, the project has im­ple­mented 68 pro­grams in to­tal for ren­o­va­tion.

These pro­grams in­clude the im­prove­ment of wa­ter, land­scap­ing, en­ergy, con­struc­tion, and com­mu­ni­ca­tion se­cu­rity, among oth­ers.

Ad­di­tion­ally, the traf­fic sys­tem in Qingpu dis­trict has been up­graded to han­dle the ex­pected traf­fic dur­ing the CIIE.
