Renovations begin for major import expo
From November 5, the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held for six days at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) located in Qingpu district.
A 5 billion yuan ($737.69 million) project is underway to improve the environmental upkeep and infrastructure around the convention center, and is expected to be completed before September 30, Shanghai Observer reported Thursday.
Based on the requirements of the Hongqiao Business District Management Committee, the project has implemented 68 programs in total for renovation.
These programs include the improvement of water, landscaping, energy, construction, and communication security, among others.
Additionally, the traffic system in Qingpu district has been upgraded to handle the expected traffic during the CIIE.
