Pub­lic gyms open for free on Na­tional Fit­ness Day

Au­gust 8 is the 10th Na­tional Fit­ness Day in China. On that day, there will be 57 pub­lic gym­na­si­ums and sta­di­ums, and nearly 1,000 cit­i­zens’ fit­ness cen­ters, open to the pub­lic for free, Jiefang Daily re­ported Mon­day.

Fit­ness fa­cil­i­ties in Shanghai have been con­tin­u­ously im­prov­ing in re­cent years so that cit­i­zens can ex­er­cise more of­ten.

Var­i­ous fit­ness events and ac­tiv­i­ties have also at­tracted lo­cal res­i­dents. There will be 296 free fit­ness skill train­ing cour­ses and lec­tures around Na­tional Fit­ness Day this year.

Some com­mer­cial gyms will also take an ac­tive part in this oc­ca­sion. Mean­while, 100 pub­lic physique mon­i­tor­ing cen­ters will pro­vide cit­i­zens re­lated ser­vices for free. De­tails on sta­di­ums and times can be found on shsports.gov.cn or by call­ing ser­vice hot line 965365.
