Princeton students learn, perform Peking Opera
A training program teaching 20 Princeton University students to learn Peking Opera kicked off in Shanghai on Monday, Knews reported.
These students will attend courses from August 20 to September 7, including learning and performing Peking Opera. They will be able to gain a better understanding of opera art, Chinese traditional opera culture and Chinese aesthetics.
Additionally, there will be a closing ceremony on September 7 for these foreign students to perform Peking Opera that they learned here.
Famous Peking opera artists and prominent young actors have been invited to teach and share their experiences.
Initiated by Shanghai Jingju Theatre Company, this program has been running for more than a decade, aiming to promote and popularize Peking Opera. This is the first overseas teaching course of the program.
