The Mousetrap – Theater play
This drama set for Shanghai is a masterpiece by English writer Agatha Christie. First debuting in London in the 1950s, The Mousetrap is the world’s longest-running stage play ever.
The script was based on Three Blind Mice, a 30-minute radio play Christie made to celebrate the 80th birthday of Queen Mary in 1947. The Mousetrap tells the story of a murder that happened in London in 1948. It is indicated that the murderer went off to Monkswell Manor where five guests were trapped because of a snowstorm. Later Detective Sergeant Trotter arrives at the manor and begins his investigation.
An intense drama set in a closed space, the play presents the audience a thrilling experience as they seek the truth behind the murder.
The drama in Shanghai is the Chinese version of the original play, enabling Chinese audiences to appreciate the classic English play in their own tongue.
The stage setting was designed and authorized by St
Martin’s Theater in London.
