Party undergoes local reshuffle ahead of 19th CPC National Congress
Chen Min’er was appointed secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China ( CPC) amid a reshuffle in various local committees.
Sun Zhengcai will no longer be secretary of CPC’s Chongqing Municipal Committee, according to a decision of the CPC Central Committee, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
Sun Zhigang has been named secretary of Guizhou Provincial Committee of the CPC, a post Chen had held since 2015.
Zhao Leji, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, said that the reshuffle was made upon careful and thorough and consideration, Xinhua reported.
The reshuffle was announced ahead of the 19th CPC National Congress, which will be held in the second half of 2017.
Born in Zhuji, East China’s Zhejiang Province in 1960, Chen was previously the head of the publicity department of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC and vice governor of Zhejiang. He was appointed governor of Southwest China’s Guizhou Province in January 2013.
Sun Zhengcai is a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Sun, who was born in 1963 in Rongcheng, East China’s Shandong Province, was made Party chief of Chongqing in November 2012. Prior to that, he served as secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial People’s Congress, and head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
