Gaming fans unable to access leading comic site AcFun since Sunday
Gaming fans found they have been unable to access the popular Chinese animation, comic and game (ACG) website AcFun Sunday, after such ACG sites have experienced stricter regulations recently.
The official Sina Weibo account of AcFun said Sunday night that the website was invaded by “indescribable chaos” and the server could not be connected temporarily.
Net users were unable to log onto the leading ACG site from Sunday, and the site was still inaccessible by press time.
Meanwhile, another popular ACG website, Bilibili, had also experienced bugs in its log-in system on Sunday, but these had been fixed by Monday morning, news portal thepaper. cn reported.
In September, AcFun was given four administrative punishments by the Integrated Law Enforcement on Cultural Market of Beijing for providing illegal and harmful content on the website, thepaper.cn reported.
In July, Bilibili and AcFun temporarily removed most of the overseas TV shows and films uploaded by users as part of an inspection of online video content. Despite the unclear explanation given for the removal, some industry experts said the content may have been culled due to copyright protection issues.
A statement posted on the website of China’s TV and film watchdog in June said that some websites, including Sina Weibo and AcFun, had not obtained the administration’s license for audio-visual services, and had published content about politics and public affairs against government rules, as well as other content that was negative in tone.
