CRRC’s deal with Rolls-Royce
Rolls-Royce Power Systems and China Railway Rolling Stock Corp (CRRC), the world’s largest rolling stock manufacturer, have signed an agreement to deepen their partnership, according to a statement sent to the Global Times on Wednesday.
According to the agreement, CRRC will continue to consider MTU engines from Rolls-Royce as drive solutions in its locomotives and diesel railcars. The two companies also agreed to collaborate on future power delivery solutions, including hybrid drives and gas engines.
The relationship has seen CRRC order about 500 MTU Series 4000 engines for locomotives used by customers in New Zealand, Argentina and South Africa.
Lynk & Co cars in Belgium, US
China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co and its Volvo Cars unit are considering making Lynk & Co brand vehicles at Volvo plants in Belgium and the US state of South Carolina, a senior Lynk & Co official told Reuters on Wednesday.
The Lynk & Co brand is jointly owned by Geely and Volvo Cars, and sales of the vehicles began on Tuesday in China. Sales are scheduled for 2019 in Europe and 2020 in the US.
The start of Lynk & Co sales caps a decade of preparation by Geely to improve its prospects in a local marketplace dominated by global automakers, and expand abroad. The purchase of Volvo is also part of Geely’s effort.
