Payment platforms to join 12/12 sales
Four local mobile payment platforms in Hong Kong, India, the Philippines and Thailand have been included as payment options for online shopping during the “Double 12” shopping event, according to media reports on Monday.
AlipayHK, India’s Paytm, the Philippines’ GCash and Thailand’s Truemoney will be accepted for payments on Alibaba’s shopping sites during the global shopping event on December 12, launched by Alibaba four years ago, news website china.com reported, citing Alibaba’s Ant Financial.
Douglas Feagin, president of international business at Ant Financial, said the move is a strategic upgrade of Ant Financial’s global push, according to the report.
Alibaba has invested in or formed partnerships with all the of four mobile payment platforms.
China Wu Yi wins road bid in Tanzania
China Wu Yi Co announced Monday that it has won a contract for a road project in Tanzania.
The project for 112.18 kilometers of road is valued at 415 million yuan ($62.72 million) and construction is expected to last three years, the company said in filings to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The company estimated that the project could generate 21 million yuan in profit, but it would not have any major impact on the company’s financial in 2017, according to the filing.
The project would be funded by the Tanzanian government, the filing said.
