China, Myanmar agree to strengthen exchanges, cooperation
China and Myanmar pledged on Tuesday to carry forward their traditional friendship and further strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
The pledge was made at a meeting between Myanmar State Counselor and National League for Democracy (NLD) chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi and a Chinese delegation led by Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee Publicity Department.
Huang conveyed the greetings of Chinese President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping, and said China-Myanmar relations have been enjoying good momentum, with frequent high-level visits and the continued deepening of mutual political trust.
He said China supports Myanmar’s efforts to maintain domestic peace, stability and achieve national development. He urged both countries to implement important consensuses reached by both sides’ leaders to carry forward their traditional friendship, and to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields.
He urged the two sides to enhance exchanges of governance experiences, deepen cultural and educational exchanges, consolidate the political foundation and support for ChinaMyanmar friendship, and push the China-Myanmar comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level.
