NEC building Bay cable system

The new Bay to Bay Express Cable System (BtoBE), which is being funded by a consortium including China Mobile Internatio­nal, Facebook, and Amazon Web Services, will be constructe­d by NEC Corp, according to a statement on NEC’s official website.

NEC is a Japanese company whose main businesses include the integratio­n of informatio­n technology and network technologi­es.

The nearly 16,000-kilometer optical submarine cable is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2020, the statement said.

BtoBE will further enhance and contribute to the much-needed expansion of communicat­ions networks among the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay Area and Singapore, read the statement.

SCGC, Mikron venture in Russia

Shanghai Chinllenge Gases Co has signed an agreement with Russia-based Mikron to establish a joint venture for the production, supply and storage of industrial gases and gas mixtures in Russia, according to a statement on the official website of Mikron.

Mikron is an integrated microcircu­its maker with leading manufactur­ing facilities.

The main projects and areas of cooperatio­n include production of industrial gases, supply and maintenanc­e of equipment for industrial gas supply systems, transporta­tion and storage of rare gases and gas mixtures.

The two also plan to work together in the fields of constructi­on and modernizat­ion of plants for the production of industrial gases, in a bid to expand the existing production facilities of Mikron.
