A cook at the Bao­hua Tem­ple in Kun­ming, cap­i­tal of South­west China’s Yun­nan Prov­ince, pre­pares Laba con­gee for the lo­cals to pro­vide bless­ings and good for­tune on Sun­day, the eighth day of the 12th month of the Chi­nese lu­nar cal­en­dar, also known as the Laba Fes­ti­val. Laba con­gee is a Chi­nese cer­e­mo­nial con­gee dish eaten dur­ing the fes­ti­val.
