Tourists stunned by see- through toilet stalls

-

A high- tech public toilet in an expo park in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province made of one- way glass has prompted heated discussions online, with some netizens calling it an “exciting but weird” experience.

A video circulating on China’s Twitter- like Sina Weibo on Saturday features dozens of public toilets with see- through glass installed at an expo park in Qianwei county, Sichuan Province, which cost a total of 800,000 yuan

( about $ 124,000), according to Pear Video.

The glass allows people from inside the toilet stalls to look outside, but not the other way around, so that privacy is ensured while creating a different experience when people are using it.

Tourists in the video said that it is “acceptable” and frankly quite interesting, while some netizens expressed concerns over the concept. “There should be a discussion as to whether such a design is ingenious or grandstanding since it might put psychological pressure on tourists,” said one on Weibo.

Others admired the eye- catching innovation, but joked, “What if the glass was installed wrongly? That would be so awkward.”

As spring approaches in Jinhua, East China’s Zhejiang Province, bringing record temperatures exceeding 25 C, a local resident is seen resting in a park along with many others who have come to relax under the warm sunshine.
